Because colon cancer is considered a Western disease, the role of diet is extremely important. A high-meat, high-fat and low fiber diet encourages the production and concentration of carcinogenic substances in the bowel and rectum. A genetic predisposition to the disease also plays a role.

Slow Cooked Turkey Breast PDF Print E-mail


Ingredients:


- 1 (6 to 8 pound) bone-in turkey breast
- 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
- 3 celery stalks, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 small sweet onion, sliced
- ¼ cup broth
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- oregano, sage, thyme
- 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions:

  1. Place celery, onion, and broth in the bottom of a large slow cooker (crock pot). 
  2. Rinse the turkey breast and pat dry. Rub onion soup mix over outside of the turkey and under the skin. Sprinkle on oregano, sage, thyme and minced garlic. 
  3. Place turkey in the slow cooker. Drizzle with melted butter.
  4. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour, then set to low and cook for 7 hours.
